Since area students cannot visit our museum at this time, we are bringing the museum to the classroom through our educational outreach program. The lessons are designed to teach Galveston County students about their local history.

We have developed a Traveling Treasure Chest that can be loaned out to area schools.  The current Treasure Chest has teaching materials, geared to 4th grade TEKS requirements, that schools can use to teach students about social studies, math, and science of the South Jetty Lighthouse Lens.

The South Jetty Lighthouse Lens itself is on display in the lobby of the Galveston County Courthouse, 722 Moody, where the public can view it from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.

We are always working to develop new programs. So, please call us if you have a good idea for a new program, and continue to check our website for updates.
