​​ Everyone can play a role in preventing child abuse and neglect and promoting child and family well-being in their community. We encourage all individuals and organizations to join in the support of those affected by getting involved to strengthen the community. Here are just a few ways you can help:

​​​​PREVENT ABUSE​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​ ​BE A ​​VOLUNTEER​​​
  • Begin by ​taking an active role in children's lives within your family. By teaching children skills in safety and self-hygiene they learn ways to stay alert and protect themselves.
  • Be involved in their activities to ensure their safety with the groups, teams and organizations they're a part of.
  • Monitor children's use of technology, which includes cell phones​, social networking, text messaging and contact lists.

  • If a child tells you they have been abused or know a friend that has please listen carefully, stay calm and never blame the child. Instead, thank the child for their courage and knowing that they can talk to you about anything that bothers or confuses them.
  • Report your concerns to the proper authorities, it may protect a child or family in need of help.​​​​​​
  • ​You can help by volunteering at your local schools, churches, community or faith-based organizations, children's hospitals, social service agencies or places where families and children are supported.

MAKE ​DONATIONS
  • Many charitable organizations are non-profit, meaning they depend upon monetary donations to help others. Many of these charities also accept donations of non-perishable food items.
  • Donate your unused, gently worn clothing to your local churches or charities. Coats and jackets are especially important in the cold and rainy months.​​​​​​
