You are cordially invited to attend an exciting variety of programs, activities and classes Monday thru Friday from 8am to 5pm designed to meet the needs and interests of a diverse older adult community. Activities Offered:
Monday thru Friday:  Dominoes, jigsaw puzzles, Rummikub (The game is rummy played with tiles) other board games are played at center depending on the number of participants.
 
Nutritious Lunch Program:
 
Monday thru Friday: Lunch is served at approximately 12pm. Call us today to discuss how to become a registered participant of our lunch program at 281-316-8822.
 
Classes Offered:
 
Painting Class: Monday at 10am. This class is considered a one stroke painting class. Participants will learn the technique by literally putting the brush on paper and making one stroke, then picking the brush up off the paper and making another stroke and so on. Beginners are always welcome. (approx 1 ½ hours)
 
Craft Class: Craft Class is open to everyone. In this class you will learn to make a variety of handmade crafts and all types of seasonal projects. Some projects will require one on one instruction. Monetary donations are greatly needed for supplies.
 
Jewelry Class: Our seniors are making gorgeous pieces of jewelry; others are bringing in pieces of jewelry from home and repairing or re-designing them. Everything from earrings, necklaces, bracelets, key chains, lanyards, eye glass holders, and much more! Classes are conducted in a group setting and involve sitting, reaching, carrying, bending, lifting. (1 ½ hour)
Crochet ClassThis is beginner’s class. The instructor will show you how to make chains and single crochet stitches.
 
Plastic CanvasThis is a one on one approach in a group setting. The plastic is cut and you do the sewing with yarn.
 
Ceramics: Everyone is given a piece of ceramic to paint. We let you paint at your own speed. The pieces are small and are usually done in one class. We teach you what brushes to use and how to detail your work.
 
Please note all classes are free of charge. However we do have craft sales and we ask everyone to help make the items to sell.
 
Exercise:
 
A variety of exercise activities are offered; please see our current monthly calendar for more details. 

Strength and Tone: strengthen and tone your muscles and move your joints while in a seated position.
 
Ball Exercise: Friday at 10am. This is fun way to exercise and is one of our seniors’ favorite exercise classes. Everyone sits in a circle. A ball is bounced to everyone in the circle using a variety of ball sizes to tone and strengthen your arms, chest and shoulders. (30 min)
Sitter Fitters: This seated exercise is done with 2 lb weights or with stretch bands. This class is lead by the activity assistant and includes a warm-up and cool-down, stretching exercises and many opportunities for the development and improvement of range of motion while strengthening the heart, neck, feet, limbs and fingers. (30 min)  
 
Chair Dancing: This is a seated exercise program that improves muscle tone, flexibility, and cardiovascular endurance. It’s dance exercise incorporated in a medically sound, no impact aerobic format and can be done in any place, in any shoes and clothing, on any floor surface and in any limited amount of space. Chair Dancing encourages health and fitness for older adults with physical conditions, restricted mobility or limitations that make it difficult to participate in conventional forms of exercise. (30 min)

We also play table ping pong, table basketball and utilize the new senior playground/motion wellness system at Carbide Park in La Marque ; stop by for more information!
 
Bingo:
 
Tuesday & Thursday from 12:30 – 2pm. This activity actually begins at 12 pm. Bingo players will sign in, and buy their cards. Cards are 25 cents each. You win prizes off the table valued at one dollar. Everyone is invited to join in the fun!
 
Penny Bingo: Fridays from 12:30pm-2:00pm. Get here a bit earlier to buy your cards and sign in. This is penny bingo. It cost a penny for each card, per game. The winner wins pennies. Everyone is invited to join in the fun!
 
Health Screenings and Presentations:
Center participants will have their blood pressure and glucose checked by AMED Home Health. Please note: This service is provided for registered center participants only. Presentations are available on monthly basis. We offer special presentations throughout the year, such as diabetes, Medicare, Aging in Place and Self Defense.
