Fisher was appointed by Governor Greg Abbott and sworn in on January 4, 2025 as the Presiding Judge of the 306th Family District Court of Galveston County, Texas.  The Court hears Family cases, involving divorce, child custody, parentage, termination and adoptions, enforcements, cases filed by the Department of Family and Protective Services (CPS), and juveniles.   Prior to being appointed as the Presiding Judge of the Court, Judge Fisher served as full-time Family Associate Judge for all of the Family Courts from January 1, 2023 through January 3, 2025.

Judge Fisher, a native Galvestonian, practiced primarily Family Law in private practice in Galveston for 35 years before becoming Family Associate Judge.

Judge Fisher graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Arts in 1985 and Baylor Law School in 1987 with a Juris Doctorate.  She was licensed to practice in 1987 and became Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in 1992. She is a member of the Galveston County Bar Association and Texas Academy of Family Law Specialists.

As a wife, mother and grandmother, Judge Fisher recognizes the importance of family and wants each family to feel heard through the legal process.  In her 35 years of Family Law practice, Judge Fisher assisted families and children through difficult times as an attorney and as a mediator.  She knows the importance of enabling families to resolve their disputes through mediation and settlement.  However, if Court intervention is necessary, Judge Fisher wants the 306th District Court to be a safe, fair and accessible place for families to resolve their differences in a just and timely manner.
