Welcome to the GCTO Special/Vehicle Inventory Tax online system!
This online portal allows you to file monthly, quarterly* and annual declarations (as well as make payments using a credit or debit card and electronic check) online and is designed to streamline the rendition and payment process, simplifying submission of your annual declaration. It will also provide you with a tool to track your activity. Online renditions are still considered confidential!
* In response to concerns that the reporting of sales by heavy equipment dealers was burdensome, the Texas Legislature passed HB 3424 in the 89th Session (attached below along with revised form). This bill, effective January 1, 2026, provides for quarterly filing of a heavy equipment dealers inventory and tax materials and revises the form. Prepayment and reports are now due on or before the 20th day of the month following each calendar quarter rather than the 20th of each month.

First time users of the online portal may obtain a login and generic password (reset at initial login) by emailing galcotax@co.galveston.tx.us (enter SIT New User in the subject line). Please include your name, title, dealership name and TxDMV dealer number, address and telephone number. NOTE: Each dealer number will require separate log-ins but a single email user address is adequate. We recommend all dealers set up multiple users.
If you experience difficulties or require assistance, call Jackie at (409) 770-5104. You may also email galcotax@galvestoncountytx.gov and enter SIT Online Help in the subject line along with the nature of assistance needed (for example, assistance needed navigating the portal).
Additional Information
Special inventory is taxable in the county where purchased so vehicles later registered in another county must still report their sales to GCTO. Even trades must be reported (unless to another dealer with a GDN).
Failure to file a monthly rendition by the 10th of month for vehicles and quarterly by the 20th of the month for heavy equipment (even if you have no sales to report) will result in a $500 penalty!
