Deadline for First Half of Split Payment!
Galveston County property owners wishing to take advantage of the split/half payment option have until December 1, 2025 to make the first payment with the second half due June 30, 2026. Payment may be mailed but to secure a timely postmark, you must drop in a USPS mailbox prior to the last pick-up time (typically 5 pm). You may also pay online at www.galcotax.com via e-check or credit card (or by calling toll free 1-800-420-1663). Bank convenience fees apply when using these options.

Electronic Tax Statements
The deadline to sign up to receive a 2025 property tax statement via electronic mail (email) is September 15th. Visit the GCTO website at www.galcotax.com and click the large red button to search for your account(s). At the account homepage, scroll to the bottom and click on Register to Receive Electronic Tax Statements. This feature is especially beneficial for anyone who recently purchased a property or refinanced. Many lenders request tax statements over the summer so property owners who either paid off a loan, refinanced or new homeowners may not receive a tax statement without taking advantage of this option.

Critical Property Tax Deadlines Looming!
The deadline to pay the second half of the split payment installment for 2024 property taxes is June 30th. It is also the deadline to apply for a payment agreement on delinquent taxes to avoid hefty attorney fees from being added. You still have plenty of time to remit payment for the final 2024 quarter installment as that deadline is July 31st.

Quarter Payment Due Dates for 2024 Taxes
Coupons were recently mailed to senior, disabled person, disabled veteran and disaster quarter installment participants for 2024 property taxes. Please note the second quarter installment payment is due March 31, third quarter is due June 2, and the final quarter due date is July 31. Avoid hefty penalty and interest and make payments on time or contact our office to discuss your options with a Property Tax Specialist by calling

2024 Property Tax Deadline Looms
Only days remain for timely payment of 2024 property taxes and the Galveston County Tax Office hopes to make it easy for you to check that chore off the “to do” list.
One-fourth installment payment option is available to every person this year due to Governor Disaster Declarations in the County. Divide amount by four and submit first payment by January 31st. The remaining installments will be due March 31, June 2, and July 31 (coupons with payment envelopes will be mailed in mid-February as a reminder).

Bank convenience fees apply when using these options. You may also pay in person or use the convenient yellow drop boxes located outside of all full-time offices. Payments dropped before 8:00 am December 3rd will be stamped received December 2, 2024.

This feature is especially beneficial for anyone who recently purchased a property or refinanced. Many lenders request tax statements midsummer so new property owners or those who paid off a loan or refinanced may not receive a tax statement without taking advantage of this option.
